I got an offer from a fourteen year old girl in Minnesota named Kayla.
She appears to be an old soul. She's obsessed with stuff from the 50's including Elvis. I was just in Minnesota and met her mom at a coffee shop to hang out for a minute. Kayla brought a Gidget book to read. Yeah, I know...who reads? (snort) So of course, when I got the velvet Elvis, I immediately thought of her. She made me this awesome Ed Sullivan collage.
Here is her story:
Hello, Rosalie! This is Kayla. I made this Ed Sullivan collage of a lot of the famous people who were on his very famous variety show. The collage is on cardboard. I would like to trade for the velvet Elvis because I like Elvis & I think the collage is really cool. I think Ed Sullivan was the best variety show host of the 20th century! He had such stars as Elvis, the Beatles, the Doors, Janis Joplin, and many others. He also had Davy Jones on it when was he in Oliver!, before he was famous (1963). On the top and bottom are pictures of some of my own record albums. I think this would be a groovy item for somebody to have because people might remember when the stuff was new (I wish I could do that!) and they may remember when the had one or some of the albums on it or remember they still have it and go into their attic or garage and take them out and listen to them after 20 years. There really isn't much more I can say about it, just that it was really fun to make & I think it is real groovy.
Sincerly, Kayla Warner
How cool is that? I love how she has pinpointed the exact date that Davy Jones became famous. Okay okay, it's just the year - but she's way ahead of me. I only remember him from that time he was on the Brady Bunch.
