When I read about this vending machine, I have to admit, I teared up a little (with excitement). The basic idea: You put something in the vending machine and in exchange - you get to take something out. What? What? It's called Swap-o-Matic and I think I'm in love.

Yep. You give something to get something.

Kim Allen, the Biscuit Bitch, was kind enough to answer my fundraising call by purchasing a year-long ad on the bARTer Sauce website. I was (and still am) trying to raise $100 so that a student can mail me a large painting of an erect penis. So far we have raised $40. If you would like to help the cause, email me at rosalie@bartersauce.com.

Now, let's learn a little more about Kim, the Biscuit Bitch:

619 Western Documentary Funding Project

Seattle artists who rent studios in the 619 Western building were surprised when their move out date (required by the city for the viaduct replacement project) was moved UP from March 2012 to October 2011.  It seems a shabby ending for a building that has housed so much creativity and given the citizens of Seattle so much pleasure.

Last weekend we tried to get out of helping a friend move by going to an art show called Mad Homes. Little did we know that her old apartment was right next to the installation. We had to hide in some bushes while she finished loading up her truck and drove away. It was worth it.

Other People Talk About The Sauce

There have been manic phases of the bARTer Sauce project where I get multiple trade offers each day. There have been other quiet, peaceful phases where I have nothing to do with The Sauce really at all. I ignore it - knowing that someday soon it will demand my attention. I enjoy our time apart almost as much as I enjoy the time we spend together. It's some kind of yin-yang bullshit.

Found another "swapping for art" site called Let's Swap. It's got a nice, clean design and an intuitive user interface. I'm jealous.

bARTer Sauce Travels to Sacramento, CA

Some of you probably already know about bARTer Sauce. It's my experiment in trading for art and odd objects. Whatever I get -- I trade for something else -- and everyone I trade with has to tell me a story.

The project was supposed to last for one year, but it's been over four years at this point and it is still going strong. I have made hundreds of trades with people all over the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK. I've met some crazies and some people who have become friends for life.

How Many Unicorn Posters Have YOU Stolen?

None? That's what I figured. Well, Nik is different. A little bit. Not in a Canadian way -- but still different.

Plus, although I've never met him, I do imagine that he smells of almonds. Again, not in a Canadian way -- in a good, almond-ey way.

What am I talking about? I have no idea.
